2025 Assembly Elections – SEC registers 24 political parties as electoral subjects

Today, the State Election Commissioner registered the following political parties as electoral subjects for the parliamentary elections on May 11, 2025:

  1. “National Unity Party”;
  2. “Union for Human Rights Party”;
  3. “Macedonian Alliance for European Integration Party”;
  4. Movement Party “The Homeland”;
  5. “Albanian Christian Democratic League Party”;
  6. “Social Justice Party”;
  7. “Agrarian Environmentalist Party of Albania”;
  8. “Party for the Protection of Workers’ Rights of Albania”;
  9. “The Hour of Albania” Party”;
  10. “Albanian Emigration Party”;
  11. “Communist Party of Albania”;
  12. “Liberal Democratic Union Party”;
  13. “Party for the Protection of Emigrants’ Rights”;
  14. “Justice, Integration, and Unity Party”;
  15. “Albanian Republican Party”;
  16. “Democratic Movement for Change Party”;
  17. “Social Democratic Party”;
  18. “New Democratic Spirit Party”;
  19. “Movement for National Development Party”;
  20. “Persons with Disabilities Party”;
  21. “Albanian National Alliance Party”;
  22. “League for the Rights of Albanian Workers Party”;
  23. “Left Front Party”;
  24. “True Albanian Path Party”.

Regarding the party “Ethnic Greek Minority for the Future,” the SEC decided to postpone the review of its registration request.

Additionally, vacancies in the municipal councils of Lezhë, Krujë, and Pogradec were filled.

During today’s session, the report on public activities for the period February 16 – February 22, 2025, was reviewed. The Commissioner approved the report and initiated an administrative investigation into the municipalities of Tirana and Elbasan.

Furthermore, reports from electoral campaign monitors covering the monitoring period from February 16 to February 22, 2025, were examined. The review and evaluation of these reports found no violations by the election campaign monitors.

The administrative review of complaint no. 7, dated February 10, 2025, filed by the Democratic Party, took place today, and the administrative investigation is ongoing.

In the next session, a decision will be announced regarding complaint no. 12, dated February 12, 2025, filed by the Institute for Political Studies.

The review of complaint no. 8, dated February 10, 2025, submitted by the Democratic Party, was postponed at the request of the interested party.

Following the administrative review of complaints no. 13, dated February 12, 2025, and no. 17, dated February 17, 2025, submitted by the Coalition for Reforms, Integration, and Consolidated Institutions (KRIIK), the Commissioner decided to dismiss the administrative investigation against:

  1. The Director General of the Agency for Media and Information;
  2. The Chairman of the Academy of Sciences of Albania;
  3. The Director of the Department of Public Administration;
  4. The Director of the State Health Inspectorate;
  5. The Director of the Institute of Public Health;
  6. The Director of the Healthcare Service Operator;
  7. The Director of the National Therapeutic and Rehabilitation Center for Children.
