The State Election Commissioner, Mr. Ilirjan Celibashi, held a meeting with representatives of UN Women to discuss increasing women’s participation in politics.

The representative of UN Women Albania, Mr. Michele Ribotta, presented recommendations for women’s empowerment, emphasizing the need for equal opportunities and support for women who want to enter politics.

One of the main initiatives discussed is the creation of spots and information materials and the organization of specific trainings for women planning to run in the 2025 elections. These trainings will provide practical guidance on completing documentation, organizing election campaigns, and addressing challenges such as hate speech and intimidation, especially on social media.

Commissioner Celibashi praised the cooperation with UN Women and emphasized the importance of continuing joint initiatives to ensure equal participation of women in politics.
